A Carefully Crafted Sequence of Images
Sadistic southern belle
Children who love dinosaurs
Blind man with his eye dog
crossing the street
The world only has one pope
Wide-eyed librarians
Would you like to go out sometime,
maybe share a context?
Respectable, law abiding citizens
Porn shop shame
Police officer wearing sunglasses
Small town gossip
Grandmother in a hospital
An alcoholic beating his wife
Bicycles
A papercut
Group of children, one crying
the rest laughing
Senior citizens at the YMCA
Monotone college professor
A declawed and neutered kitten
Pigeon shit on the sidewalk
Awkward sex
Excuse me sir, do you know
what time it is?

I like this. I have close-read it six times now. As a bit of friendly, constructive critique, my only wonder is the title, and whether perhaps a different title might better tie-together, as well as open the poem overall to more meanings?
Just a thought.
Anyway, my sense is that the narrator is observing people and things as he/she walks through a town square, or park, even stopping to read the newspaper, catching certain headlines, and in general seeing images all the while.
cool.
Thanks, Matthew. The title could stand a bit more consideration, to bring a more specific meaning to the poem instead of just announcing the obvious structure of it.
If you're interested in the poem's process, I was listening to this song on Bjork's myspace page over and over while writing this. It's a great song.
